Royalty, awards announced at Ivy Day

The 2009 Ivy Day royalty at Chadron State College are seniors 艾琳·里德尔 of Callaway and 泰勒Lebsock of Yuma, 科罗拉多州.

They were crowned Friday night during ceremonies in Memorial Hall. Nearly 60 seniors also were recognized as the outstanding scholars in their academic areas. The colorful event is sponsored by Blue Key and Cardinal Key National Honor Societies.

Ridder is a human biology major who will begin studying optometry at Northeastern State University in Oklahoma beginning this fall. She has been treasurer of the Chadron State 健康 Professions Club, has served on several 体育菠菜大平台 committees, has been a human biology mentor and was a Newman House retreat leader. She was crowned the CSC Winter Ball queen in February. Her parents are John and Mary Ridder.

Lebsock is a math major and is a member of Kappa Mu Epsilon, the math honorary. He has been Blue Key's representative on the Campus Activities Board and has served on the Student Senate. He will pursue a master's degree at Chadron State, beginning this fall. He is the son of Mike and Missy Lebsock.

The first attendants to the royal couple were 瑞秋Wickman of Eli, Neb., and 机会Galey of Crawford. The other queen's attendants were Ashley Krause of Big Springs and Sara Pilakowski of Genoa. The other king's attendants were Danny Hanlon of Crawford, 内森Stec of Valentine and 凯尔·施密特 of Gordon.

Schmidt served as the orator representing Blue Key. The Cardinal Key orator was Melissa Johnson of Sidney. Dr. Clark Gardener, who is retiring as a professor of education this summer, was the faculty greeter.

Three special awards also were presented at Ivy Day. The Student Leadership Award given by the Association of Collegiate Business Schools went to Barrett Hahn of Aurora. The National Business Education Association Award was presented to Ryan Mader of Buffalo, 怀俄明州. The Clyde Bond Memorial Award that goes to seniors who displays outstanding character, leadership and athletic ability went to Sara Pilakowski of Genoa and Zach Wheeler of Sheridan, 怀俄明州.
