Musikgarten open house is Thursday
Chadron State College’s Musikgarten program will host an open house Thursday, Sept. 3, from 4-7:30 p.m. at the lobby of Memorial Hall.
Marian Beutler, one of three teachers of the program which is open to children ranging from infants to 9 years old. She said Thursday’s informational session will provide a sample of the Musikgarten teaching philosophy and display the benefits of children’s participation in the music and movement program. She said the program encompasses musical, physical, emotional, social and cognitive growth.
“A goal of Musikgarten is to bring music back into the home by means of parent participation and use of music learning materials,” Beutler said.
The other Musikgarten teachers at CSC are Dr. James Margetts and Laura Empson. The Musikgarten program has been operating in Chadron since 2006, but Beutler and Empson have expanded the offerings after attending training for the upper ages of the curriculum at Greeley, Colo., July 19-24.
